Sophie, Countess of Wessex: Body language shows Meghan Markle relationship

Sophie, Countess of Wessex and Meghan Markle are both full-time members of the Royal Family. The countess became part of the family when she married the Queen’s son, Prince Edward, at Windsor Castle on 19 June 1999. Meghan married Prince Harry, 34, at the same venue on 19 May 2018. Both royals gave up work to be part of the Royal Family and they have occasionally been spotted out together.

Soon after Meghan became the part of the Royal Family she began to appear at official royal events.

The Duchess of Sussex attended Royal Ascot 2018 and she arrived sharing a carriage with Sophie.

The Queen is thought to be close to Sophie so it is no surprise why she may have wanted to pair her up with Meghan while she adjusted to royal life.

Meghan and Sophie appear to have more similarities now after the birth of Archie Harrison, two months.

Although Sophie is married to the Queen’s son, she have managed to raise her children, Lady Louise Windsor, 15, and James Viscount Severn, 11, mostly out of the spotlight.

After having her first child, it seems Meghan is trying to do the same and could look to Sophie for tips on how to keep Archie’s life as private as possible.

When the royals have been spotted out together, their body language has revealed Sophie is willing to help Meghan.

During their shared carriage ride to Royal Ascot in 2018, Sophie seemed to be looking out for Meghan, according to body language expert, Judi James.

“Meghan looks super-poised in these photos, sitting upright and with her mouth opened in an upturned smile that is aimed at the crowds,” she said.

“Sophie’s eyes are also on the crowds, although her head-tilt and suppressed smile that tilts the corners of her mouth down suggest she is communicating quietly with Meghan here.”

A few months later, they both appeared on the balcony at Buckingham Palace to celebrate Trooping the Colours.

At this time, Sophie was spotted giving some reassurance to Meghan.

Judi said: “Appearing on the royal balcony, it’s Sophie who moves away from her husband to step closer to Meghan here, communicating with her to make her smile behind the back of the Queen.”

Although it does not seem like they are close friends, they appear to get on well and Sophie is there to offer help to Meghan if she needs it.

Sophie often makes stylish fashion choices which could show how she influences younger royals, including Meghan.

By choosing similar designers, it seems Meghan has taken some inspiration from Sophie’s style.

Sophie mostly keeps her children out of the spotlight and they attended school at St George’s School, near where the Queen lives
