London news: Man in life-threatening condition after serious collision on Oxford Street | UK | News


Scotland Yard have confirmed that they were called to the scene just before 09.00pm on Friday evening. The man was flown to a Major Trauma Centre in west London. There have been no arrests as of yet.

Police have put cordons in place in the surrounding area.

Traffic has also be diverted away from the scene of the accident.

Transport for London released an update following the accident: “Oxford Street is blocked in both directions at Soho Street due to a collision.

“Routes 55, 73, 98 and 390 are all on diversion.

“Expect delays.”

Friday’s accident comes after a man was killed in a sperate crash in West London on June 7.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene on Great West Road, near the Hammersmith Flyover in west London around 1.40am.

Three men were arrested at the scene.

All three are believed to be in their 20s and were arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.

A Met Police spokesman said: “At this early stage it is thought three cars were involved in the collision.

“One man – no further details – was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Three men, believed aged in their 20s, have been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving – all have been taken to hospital as a precaution.”
